Executives from Vauxhall proprietor Normal Motors (GM) have met the UK enterprise secretary amid considerations over plans to merge its loss-making European unit with Peugeot.
GM stated it was in talks with Peugeot proprietor PSA Group “to construct on the success” of Vauxhall and to place it in “the strongest potential place”.
Vauxhall employs four,500 workers within the UK at vegetation at Ellesmere Port and Luton.
Enterprise Secretary Greg Clark stated he had been reassured about these jobs.
“There may be some method to go in discussions between GM and PSA, however I used to be reassured by GM’s intention, communicated to me, to construct on the success of those operations fairly than rationalise them,” Mr Clark stated.
Vauxhall has stated an additional 23,000 folks work in its UK showrooms and seven,000 in its UK provide chain.
